Panda Mountain

Panda Mountain is a conservation initiative focused on Wolong Nature Reserve, China’s leading home for Giant Pandas. Panda Mountain works to conserve and restore Giant Panda habitat and biodiversity by engaging the public, both visitors to protected areas and indigenous communities, and by training resource managers. Panda Mountain integrates planning, conservation, education, training, community engagement, and sustainable development into their work in Wolong. Wolong Nature Reserve is a site of international significance that was designated by the United Nations as a World Heritage Site. Wolong Nature Reserve was established in 1963, covering an area of about 200,000 hectares in the Qionglai Mountains region and home to over 4,000. Wolong houses more than 150 highly endangered giant pandas. Panda Mountain has built trusted working relationships with the leadership of Wolong, providing a range of advisory and planning services.
The Panda Mountain team, consisting of Chinese, US, and international experts, is uniquely qualified to play a transformative role in helping to guide Wolong’s comprehensive economic and environmental redevelopment, promote the conservation of Giant Panda habitat, protect biodiversity and celebrate the cultural richness and protect the well-being of Wolong’s indigenous communities.
FACT: The Sichuan Giant Panda Sanctuaries located in the southwest Sichuan province of China, is the home to more than 30% of the world's highly endangered Giant Pandas and is among the most important sites for the captive breeding of these pandas.
